A Journey Across the Spectrum Chapter 32, Part 3
Hayden looked up at the cloud of fire, soot and burning stone that exploded past him in terror, awed and horrified by the colossal mountain's unrestrained power as the sky above him stained inky black. Lightning arced through the clouds of soot as they rolled upwards, arcing out into the air and striking the ground all around them.
“I don't think that's dormant!” Aurica shrieked.
“GO!” Hayden screamed at the scientist, barely able to hear himself over the roar of the eruption.
“What about the sirens?!” the man defended, pointing at the array just a few hundred feet in front of them.
“FUCK THE SIRE

Hayden watched as Melody walked back up to his side, grinning broadly at her victory. “You sure you're okay?” he asked.
Melody laughed. “I feel fine, Master. Oh, I feel Great!”
York shook his head. “Very well, child. You leave me with no choice, so I shall oblige your foolish endeavors. I, Executive York, shall crush you into dust!”
Hayden rolled his shoulders, raising his arm up, scar blazing red-hot. “Let's go! Melody!”
Exec. York threw out a Pokeball. “Go, Crassus!”
The Tyranitar appeared above Melody and fell fist first into the ground before her. Melody scowled at

Chapter 32: Rise to Glory
Hayden sat on the gondola quietly, listening to the quiet music playing over the speakers, Melody sitting on the floor to his right and Face McPunchy sitting to his left. Jim was nowhere to be seen, having still been in a rather foul mood, Hayden having left him to mope around the Cinnabar Pokemon Center. Aurica sat across the gondola, staring down at the floor, avoiding eye contact with Hayden, while Klauss, having not been in a bad mood, sat conspicuously close to Aurica's side.
Melody looked fantastic, as if the incident on the beach had never happened, which, for some odd reason, placed a strange, questioning

Hayden scratched the back of his head in frustration, eyes down on the floor, deep in thought. Three days had gone by since Melody had rather mysteriously vanished from her Pokeball, and Hayden had been looking for her since. He had searched the entirety of Cinnabar South, through the market places and all the way up the Eastern and Western coastlines of the Island, even going so far as to ask the inhabitants of the island for their assistance in locating the Fire Type.
“I don't know what to do,” Hayden told Jim. “I've looked everywhere and I can't find her.”

Chapter 30: If you can't take the Heat
Hayden walked down the brow of Jim's ship, his boots clunking on the metallic stairs as he descended the many steps to the pier at Cinnabar Island. The morning sunrise turned the whole sky a brilliant crimson, the thin layer of clouds above shining vibrantly in the sunlight. As Hayden reached the wooden pier, he reached up and patted Aurica.
“We're on the pier now,” he said.
Aurica sighed in relief and relaxed her grip on Hayden's head, slumping down partially over his face. “Why does that boat have to be so damn big?” she demanded.
“First off, it's not

Hayden's boot crunched down on the stony beach of the Seafoam Islands, the beach waves lapping up at his ankles. Jim stepped out of the longboat, stepping down into the water beside Hayden, the waves rolling up gently around his ankles, much to Hayden's surprise. The younger boy looked down at Jim's submerged boots, then up at the taller Trainer. “Jim, what are you doing?” Hayden asked.
“Following you on some ill-conceived notion of heroism,” Jim answered.
“No,” Hayden said. “Not that part. Why are you in the water?”

Hayden stared at the yacht before him, a handsome vessel of over eighty feet in length, four stories tall and equipped with state of the art sonar, radar and radio equipment. The bright white paint reflected the water below it as the waves lapped against the side, splashing gently at the waterline. Impressed, Hayden placed one hand on his hip and nodded.
“That really is a nice yacht you have there,” he complimented.
Jim looked at the yacht disappointed. “That dinky little thing?” he demanded. “That doesn't even have a swimming pool. No, Hayden, that is not my yacht.&

Jim watched Hayden run out of the Museum's front doors, chasing after the Houndoom wearing the necklace. For some reason, Hayden had shouted that Klauss was now in charge, and for some other inexplicable reason, everyone seemed to expect the Aron to do something spectacular. Klauss looked up at Steven's Aggron, then at Steven. "Uh, Steven... I say we... hit them?"
Steven looked down at the Aron for a second, then shrugged casually. "Why not? Aggron, Iron Tail."
The Aggron spun around and smashed his tail into Crassus' chest, knocking the Tyranitar back head over heels. Jim raised his eyebrow

Hayden and Jim stood inside of the massive front room of the Pewter City Museum, a place of majesty, knowledge, learning, and very old bones. Aurica sat perched atop Hayden's head, her front pads resting lightly on his head as she daintily sniffed the air. Hayden heard his Pokémon's whiffing and took a sniff of the air himself.
"Gawd, what's that terrible smell?" Aurica demanded.
Hayden exhaled out his nose, purging the distinct odor of Amouge Die Pour Homme and mothballs from his sinuses. "That," he explained, "Is the smell of rich people."
Jim sniffed his underarm as Hayden and Auri

Hayden walked down the aisle of the Saffron Express, eyeing the narrow, uncomfortable looking car warily. The room was cramped, dimly lit, and smelled of moldy cheese and wet cardboard, and something else incredibly unpleasant, like old seafood. There were oddly shaped smears in the carpet, and bits of the rubber walkway were broken up and cracked. The window drapes appeared to have been, at some point, a bright red, but were now somewhere between burgundy and brown. Yet that was not what caught Hayden's eye. That horribly disgusting thing was the seats.

"How many more Rattata do we have to kill?" Aurica shouted, billowing blue flames outwards, incinerating everything in range. They had been out fighting for nearly five hours, killing everything in sight. Hayden placed his free hand on his chin and thought for a moment.
"I think three more times of 'Eye of the Tiger' ought to cover it," he responded.
Aurica shouted her exhasperation to the sky and incinerated a fleeing Pidgey, the smoking body hitting the ground with a soft thud. "We've been listening to that song for hours, Hayden!" she exclaimed. "Don't you have any other songs?"

Hayden and Aurica stared upward in awe, astonished by the size of the buildings in Celadon City, towering hundreds of feet above them. The glass and concrete monoliths seemed to touch the very sky, extending so far above the groun that Hayden had to tilt back to view the tops. Sunlight shimmered off of the glistening clean windows, scattering rays of light down onto the street below.
"Wow," Hayden breathed, "I feel like I'm in one of those old pictures of Times Square."
Jim smiled, cocking an inquisitive eyebrow. "What century?"

Bright light burned upon his eyes, and Jim rolled over with a disgruntled groan. He had slept uncomfortably all night, and he was not ready to get up yet. Unfortunately for him, the world seemed to have other ideas. A very loud and very annoying Pidgey was squalking it's brains out on the windowsill outside of Jim's room, and Jim was sure that it was screaming for someone to come shoot it. Were it not so early, he would gladly assist it in it's quest for death, but as it was only eight in the morning, he was not yet comfortable with moving.

Hayden and Jim walked out of the Pokemon Center, the sun beginning its ascent into the mid morning sky. Jim casually examined the quaint little town, but Hayden was a bit more apprehensive. He was back in the town that he had grown up in, an unforseen hurdle in his vie for freedom. Hayden looked up at the Pokemon Tower, looming overhead.
"So," Jim started, "You grew up here, right?"
Hayden frowned. "Unfortunately."
"So, you kind of know a bit about the place?"
"Yeah. Why?"
"Why does the Pokemon Tower have a radio antenna on top of it?"
"Oh, it used to be a Radio Station," Hayden answered.

Hayden sighed. "Is there any way around this place?"

Jim was munching on a bag of M&M's as he walked beside Hayden, Klauss riding on his shoulder, happily accepting the occasional candy that his Trainer offered him. Aurica sat atop Hayden's head, purring happily in the warm sunlight. Hayden followed Aurica towards the back of the ship, her nose held aloft, sniffing out the source of the deliscious smell. They wandered around the corner of the ship's superstructure, heading back towards the patio and pool area. Hayden watched, laughing, as Aurica teetered on the edge of the pool, her tails hanging on the other side to maintain balance.
"What is she doing?" Jim asked, perplexed.

Jim did not believe him at all, and Klauss was skeptical, but Aurica believed in her Trainer with firm resolve, having personally seen him do it, as well as knowing the reason why he was able to do it, too.

Needless to say, Hayden had immediately turned and left the instant the first Trainer had approached him, swimming with her Gyarados, and asked if he was going to challenge the Leader.
